Daily Term: Stress Testing
Stress Testing
Stress Testing pushes a system beyond its normal capacity to determine its breaking point and observe how it fails. For example, a stress test might simulate 10,000 concurrent users on a web app designed for 1,000 to see if it crashes or slows down. Stress testing helps understand system limits and failure modes, ensuring graceful degradation, but it can be destructive and requires careful monitoring to avoid unintended damage.
