Daily Term: Penetration Testing
Penetration Testing
Penetration Testing (pen testing) involves simulating cyberattacks on a system to identify vulnerabilities, such as weak passwords or unpatched software. For example, a pen tester might attempt to gain unauthorized access to a web app by exploiting a misconfigured server. Pen testing uncovers security gaps before attackers do, improving system safety, but it requires skilled testers and can be time-consuming and costly.
