3237. Alt and Tab Simulation

Problem Explanation

Explanation:

To simulate the behavior of the Alt+Tab key combination, we can use a stack to keep track of the windows that are currently open. When a new window is opened, we push it onto the stack. When the user presses Alt+Tab, we pop the top window from the stack and bring the next window to the front. If the user switches to a different window without closing the current window, we push the current window back onto the stack.

Algorithm:

  1. Initialize an empty stack to store the windows.
  2. For each window opened:
    • Push the window onto the stack.
  3. When the user presses Alt+Tab:
    • Pop the top window from the stack.
    • If there are more windows left, push the popped window back onto the stack.
  4. Repeat step 3 until the user selects a window.

Time Complexity:

  • O(N) where N is the number of windows opened.

Space Complexity:

  • O(N) where N is the number of windows opened.

Solution Code

import java.util.Stack;

class AltAndTabSimulation {
    public String altAndTabSimulation(String[] windows) {
        Stack<String> stack = new Stack<>();

        for (String window : windows) {
            stack.push(window);
        }

        StringBuilder result = new StringBuilder();
        while (!stack.isEmpty()) {
            String currentWindow = stack.pop();
            if (!stack.isEmpty()) {
                result.insert(0, currentWindow + " -> ");
                stack.push(currentWindow);
            } else {
                result.insert(0, currentWindow);
            }
        }

        return result.toString();
    }
}
