674. Longest Continuous Increasing Subsequence
Problem Explanation
Explanation
To find the length of the longest continuous increasing subsequence in an unsorted array of integers, we can use a simple iterative approach. We iterate through the array and keep track of the current increasing subsequence length and the maximum length seen so far. Whenever the next element is greater than the current element, we update the current subsequence length. If the next element is not greater, we start a new subsequence from that element. We update the maximum length whenever we find a longer continuous increasing subsequence.
Algorithm:
- Initialize
maxLengthandcurrentLengthto 1. - Iterate through the array starting from the second element:
- If the current element is greater than the previous element, increment
currentLength. - Else, update
maxLengthifcurrentLengthis greater and resetcurrentLengthto 1.
- If the current element is greater than the previous element, increment
- Return
maxLength.
Time Complexity: O(n) where n is the number of elements in the array. Space Complexity: O(1)
Solution Code
class Solution {
public int findLengthOfLCIS(int[] nums) {
if (nums.length == 0) return 0;
int maxLength = 1;
int currentLength = 1;
for (int i = 1; i < nums.length; i++) {
if (nums[i] > nums[i - 1]) {
currentLength++;
} else {
maxLength = Math.max(maxLength, currentLength);
currentLength = 1;
}
}
return Math.max(maxLength, currentLength);
}
