713. Subarray Product Less Than K
Problem Explanation
Explanation
To solve this problem, we can use a sliding window approach. We maintain a window that grows from left to right while the product of elements within the window is less than k. If the product exceeds k, we shrink the window from the left until the product is less than k again. At each step, we count the number of valid subarrays that can be formed with the current window.
Algorithm
- Initialize variables
countandprodto keep track of the count of valid subarrays and the product of elements in the window respectively. - Initialize
leftandrightpointers to 0. - Iterate
rightfrom 0 to the length of the array:- Update
prodby multiplying it withnums[right]. - While
prodis greater than or equal tok, divideprodbynums[left]and incrementleftto shrink the window. - Add the count of valid subarrays to
count(size of the current window).
- Update
- Return the final count.
Time Complexity
The time complexity of this algorithm is O(n) where n is the length of the input array nums.
Space Complexity
The space complexity is O(1) as we are using only a constant amount of extra space.
Solution Code
class Solution {
public int numSubarrayProductLessThanK(int[] nums, int k) {
if (k <= 1) return 0;
int prod = 1, count = 0, left = 0;
for (int right = 0; right < nums.length; right++) {
prod *= nums[right];
while (prod >= k) {
prod /= nums[left];
left++;
}
count += right - left + 1;
}
return count;
}
