Problem Explanation
Explanation
To determine if the number of global inversions is equal to the number of local inversions, we need to understand the difference between these two types of inversions. Global inversions involve comparing elements across different subarrays while local inversions involve comparing adjacent elements within the array.
In this problem, since the array nums is a permutation of all the integers in the range [0, n - 1], the only possible local inversions are between adjacent elements. If the number of global inversions is equal to the number of local inversions, all global inversions must be local inversions as well.
To check this efficiently, we can iterate through the array and for any index i, if nums[i] is more than i+1, it means there is a global inversion. If we find a global inversion that is not a local inversion, we return false.
Solution Code
class Solution {
public boolean isIdealPermutation(int[] nums) {
for (int i = 0; i < nums.length; i++) {
if (Math.abs(nums[i] - i) > 1) {
return false;
}
}
return true;
}
